Terms of Service & Privacy
By using this website, casting a wish, purchasing credits, or making a donation, you agree to the following terms and our privacy policy.
1. Entertainment Purpose & Anti-Gambling
The Internet's Wishing Well is a digital community art piece. All donations and interactive features are for entertainment purposes only. The interactive "Wishing Well Minigame" offers absolutely NO prize, NO sweepstakes, and NO chance to win money or randomized material rewards. It is categorized strictly as a visual representation of a charitable micro-donation.
2. Age Restriction
You must be at least 18 years of age (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) to cast a wish, participate in the minigame, or make a financial contribution on this website.
3. Virtual Currency & "Quarters" Wallet
To participate in the interactive minigame, you may preload a digital wallet with "Quarters". These pre-loaded closed-loop virtual credits have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for fiat currency, are non-transferable, and are used exclusively to trigger visual donation animations on the platform.
4. Donations & Refunds
Purchases are governed by our Refund Policy — thirty days, no questions asked, with three narrow exceptions for things the cosmos has already rendered (audio already generated, postcards already posted, subscription periods already elapsed). Pre-loaded wallet Quarters are closed-loop credits with no cash value and are not redeemable for currency. Payments are processed securely through Stripe; we do not store or process your raw payment information on our servers.
5. Privacy Policy & Data Handling
When you cast a wish, we collect your provided name, message, location coordinates, and email. Your payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe. By providing your email, you consent to receive cosmic updates and reminders. We do not sell your personal data.
Your rights (GDPR Articles 17 + 20): You may request data deletion at any time via your account dashboard (server-side erasure across our database, R2 storage, and Stripe Customer records) or request a portable export of all your data as JSON. If you cannot reach the dashboard — or would simply rather write to a person — email hello@theinternetswishingwell.com from the address you used and we will do it for you.
Third-party processors who receive limited data in the course of operation: Stripe (payment processing — full payment + receipt email), Cloudflare (hosting, edge cache, analytics — IP, request metadata), Google Analytics 4 (anonymous traffic analytics — pseudonymous hashed email + transaction id only), MailChannels / Resend / SendGrid (email delivery — recipient email + message body), Lob (physical postcard fulfillment, only when you order a postcard — recipient address), Discord (operator notifications only — emails redacted to the form op***@example.com).
Analytics identifiers. We store two random identifiers in your browser's own storage: one that persists across visits, and one that lasts only until you close the tab. They let us see whether a browser came back, and which pages a single visit touched. They are randomly generated — not derived from your email, your IP address, your wish, or anything else about you — and they are never joined to your account or your payment. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we store nothing and send no analytics at all. To erase them at any time, open any page with ?tiww_forget=1 added to the address, or clear this site's data in your browser.
Wishes published to the public well show your first name, your message, and your country. Your town, your precise coordinates, your email address and your payment details are never published.
6. User-Generated Guidelines, Cyberbullying & IP Tracking
Wishes posted to the well become public community content. The inclusion of a real person's name, or writing anything hurtful, explicit, or intended to bully others, is strictly prohibited and falls entirely on the liability of the poster. To protect our community and platform, we log the IP addresses of all posts. We reserve the right to remove any content deemed offensive, harmful, or in violation of these terms without notice, and to cooperate fully with necessary authorities if the platform is misused.
7. Limitation of Liability
This service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Garnet Grid and The Internet's Wishing Well shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or emotional damages arising from the use or inability to use this platform.
8. Jurisdiction & Modifications
These terms shall be governed by the laws applicable to Garnet Grid. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
